The Philips Avent SCF883/01 combines steaming, blending, defrosting and warming in one appliance. That is the core of this baby food maker. With a capacity of 1000 ml, you can prepare up to four meals at once – convenient for batch cooking. The appliance is BPA-free and mains-powered. A timer helps set the cooking duration.

Steaming is the primary function. Steam circulates from bottom to top, which, according to the specifications, ensures even cooking. This helps retain nutrients and cooking liquid during blending. That is the advantage of a combined system. There is a practical note: when blending freshly steamed ingredients, you may need to press the lid down lightly. This is due to slight thermal expansion of the plastic parts.

The SCF883/01 is suitable for puréed and chunky foods. This makes the transition from liquid to solid food simpler. You can prepare fruit, vegetables, fish and meat in it. An online recipe booklet – accessible via a QR code – provides inspiration and nutritional advice. It is an appliance for home use, not for travel. A practical point: certain strongly coloured foods, such as carrots or berries, may cause staining of components. According to the manufacturer, this does not affect quality or hygiene.
