Einhell TC-SM 2131/2 Dual Mitre Saw 1800W

The Einhell TC-SM 2131/2 Dual is a sliding compound mitre saw with an 1800W motor and a 210mm blade. The sliding function lets you cut wider workpieces. The first thing you notice: it combines a mitre saw with a sliding carriage. That means you can cut wider than the 210 mm of the blade alone – up to 310 mm in a straight 90° cut. The carbide-tipped blade with 48 teeth cuts through wood, coated panels and plastics. The turntable has fixed angle positions for the most common cuts. The saw head tilts left and right – from -45° to +45° – for mitre cuts. A laser (mains-powered) marks the cut line. That helps with precision work, but the laser only works when the saw is plugged in.

The sliding function – or pull function – sets this saw apart from a fixed mitre saw. The saw head glides forward on two steel rods. That lets you cut workpieces up to 310 mm wide in one pass. Without the sliding function, you would be limited to the blade diameter. The cutting capacity at 90°x90° is 310 x 62 mm – width times depth. That means: a board 31 cm wide and 6.2 cm thick in one go. At a 45° bevel cut, the depth remains 36 mm. The sliding action is smooth, but it does need some space behind the saw – allow about 70 cm of clear depth on the workbench.

At 11 kg, the saw is sturdy enough for regular use, but not so heavy that you cannot move it. The transport lock secures the saw head – handy if you take it to another worksite. The workpiece supports on both sides slide out for long boards. They are metal, with a plastic cover. The workpiece clamp holds the material in place – a simple but effective addition. The dust collection chute behind the blade catches some of the sawdust, but do not expect vacuum-cleaner levels. The extraction hose diameter is 36 mm – that fits most construction vacuums. The included dust bag is a start, but for serious work you are better off connecting a vacuum. The table insert has a scale – you read the workpiece width directly. That saves measuring.

The saw is built for wood, coated panels and plastics. With 48 teeth on the carbide blade, it cuts relatively cleanly – less finishing than with a coarse blade. The laser marks the cut line on the top. That is handy for visible cuts, but on thicker workpieces you cannot see the line on the underside. The turntable rotates smoothly and clicks into the most common positions. The angle scales are easy to read. The saw head tilts left and right – that is useful for mitre cuts in both directions, without turning the workpiece. The workpiece fence with rail is adjustable on both sides. That gives flexibility for repeated cuts at the same length. Dust extraction is present, but not overwhelming – expect sawdust on the workbench. The saw is not suitable for metal or stone. The speed is too high and the blade is not designed for it.

The cutting capacity of 310 x 62 mm at 90° is the practical size for most jobs.
