Moulinex Easy Soup LM8411: soup making without supervision

The Moulinex Easy Soup LM8411 cooks and blends in one appliance. Choose one of the four culinary programmes — from 4 to 25 minutes — and the machine does the rest. There's also the keep-warm function: after the programme finishes, the soup stays at temperature for 40 minutes. Handy if you want to finish something else first, but it also means you can't decide exactly when the soup is ready. If you prefer to control every step yourself, a regular blender and pan are better.

Five programmes, one button: what the Easy Soup does for you

The interface is deliberately simple: two clicks and the programme runs. In addition to creamy soup and chunky soup, there are also jam and cold-dish programmes. The 1000 W motor spins at up to 20,000 revolutions per minute — enough to blend smoothly. The bowl is made of stainless steel and has four blades. There's also a chopping function, though that's not the main purpose of this appliance. The 1.2 litre capacity is enough for a few bowls of soup, not for a whole family.

Cleaning and durability: where this soup maker scores

Cleaning is done via the automatic cleaning programme — you don't have to scrub the bowl yourself. The double wall keeps the outside cooler and insulates the heat. The housing is made of stainless steel, making this model sturdier than a plastic version. Moulinex promises 15 years of repairability at a fair price; that makes this a sensible second-hand choice. The included recipe book contains 30 recipes, from winter soup to smoothie and dessert.
