Netatmo Smart Thermostat - Wireless Central Heating Thermostat with WiFi

The Netatmo NTH01-EN-EU is built around self-learning software – and that defines its character. This room thermostat controls your central heating by studying your routine and automatically adjusting its schedule. It connects wirelessly to your boiler and via Wi-Fi to your home network. This enables remote control, but also means a stable internet connection is required for full functionality. The thermostat is compatible with major smart home platforms.

You control the NTH01-EN-EU primarily through its companion app for iOS or Android. An account is mandatory, as the thermostat shares user data to operate. Using the touchscreen on the device, you can set the temperature in half-degree increments, from a minimum of 5°C to a maximum of 30°C. The thermostat works with 'On/Off' boilers from brands like Vaillant, Nefit, Intergas and ATAG. It is suitable for underfloor heating, but does not support OpenTherm communication or control for multiple heating zones.

Measuring 8.3 by 8.3 cm and 22 mm thick, the thermostat weighs just 70 grams. Its freestanding design is finished in white. Power comes from a 4.5V Li-Ion AAA battery – there's no power cord. The wireless link to the boiler requires installing a receiver at the boiler itself. This offers flexible placement for the thermostat, but the initial setup is not plug-and-play.

The app provides graphs of your energy consumption and indoor temperature. You get features like automatic summer/winter time switching and an unlimited number of daily temperature settings. The manufacturer supports the device with updates for at least 36 months after its introduction in February 2020. This thermostat is not for complex systems with multiple heating zones; it controls a single boiler serving one area.

Support for the Matter protocol may improve future compatibility with a broader smart home ecosystem.
