Tado Smart Radiator Thermostat | Room-by-Room Control

The Tado Slimme Radiatorknop is built around the Tado Internet Bridge – and that determines everything. This is not a standalone product. You need the bridge to connect to the internet and unlock the app functionality. The knob is an extension to an existing Tado Starter Kit (V2, V3 or V3+). The goal is per-room control, allowing you to regulate multiple heating zones and rooms individually. This way, you gain control over your home climate, room by room.

Installation is straightforward, but compatibility is specific. The knob works exclusively with existing thermostatic radiator valves – it replaces your current thermostat knob. Manual valves, often recognisable by plus/minus or on/off symbols, are not compatible. The knob is suitable for valves from brands such as Foss, Caleffi, Comap, Giacomini, Herz, Olymp, Siemens and Terrier. For valves from Vaillant, Oventrop, Ista and Orkli, an adapter is required, which is not supplied by Tado. Therefore, always check in advance which brand of thermostat knob you have.

You control the radiators via the Tado app on your smartphone, tablet or computer – wherever you are. The app shows the current temperature, when heating occurred and gives you remote control. The system is flexible: you can let it run fully automatically, set schedules or intervene manually. A clear report shows the temperature progression and activity of your radiators. The automation is based on daily routines and takes into account the thermal properties of your home – after all, every house is different.

The core promise is energy saving. By controlling per room and adjusting heating to presence and weather forecasts, you reduce unnecessary consumption. For example, the system heats less on a sunny day or when no one is home, and heats up in time when someone is on their way. This makes life more comfortable, but the saving is a result of the complete Tado system, not the individual knob. The knob adds that granular, room-by-room control that the basic kit alone does not provide.
